IS YOUR AIRBAG SAFE?
53 million cars worldwide with Takata airbags are being recalled. 34 million in the United States.
These airbags have been found to occasionally spray metal shrapnel if the airbag detonator has been exposed to moisture due to a fault in the manufacturing process.
Takata, the airbag production company, is currently under investigation for destroying evidence of internal testing of potentially faulty airbags.
Six deaths have been linked to the faulty airbags.
